Sun Feb 02 04:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Wizards Snap 16-Game Losing Streak, Defeat Timberwolves 105-103

**MINNEAPOLIS, MN** – The Washington Wizards ended their 16-game losing streak with a thrilling 105-103 victory over the injury-depleted Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Kyle Kuzma led the charge for Washington, scoring a season-high 31 points, including a crucial 16-point second-quarter run. The win also marked the end of a 21-game road losing skid for the Wizards.

Supporting Kuzma’s efforts were Jordan Poole (19 points), Bilal Coulibaly (14 points), and Jonas Valanciunas (13 points and 10 rebounds). Valanciunas was instrumental in a key 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter that gave Washington a crucial lead.

Despite a late turnover with 11 seconds left and a two-point lead, the Wizards held on after a missed three-pointer by Minnesota’s Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the closing seconds.

The Timberwolves, missing starters Anthony Edwards (illness) and Julis Randle (groin injury), fought hard despite the absences. Jayden McDaniels put up a strong performance with 23 points and 12 rebounds, marking his first career 20-point, 10-rebound game. Rudy Gobert contributed 16 points and 16 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the end of Minnesota’s five-game winning streak. The team’s struggles were further compounded by Naz Reid leaving the game early in the third quarter with a finger sprain.

Despite the loss, the Timberwolves showcased impressive ball movement, tallying 29 assists. The Wizards’ Malcolm Brogdon returned from injury, contributing three points, four assists, and five rebounds in his 21 minutes of play.

Both teams return to action Monday; Washington faces Charlotte, while Minnesota hosts Sacramento.
