Sun Feb 02 10:59:30 IST 2025: ## Manipur Police Arrest Extortionists from Meitei and KCP Outfits
**Imphal, Manipur – February 2, 2025** – Manipur police announced the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in extortion activities across several districts. Three members of the Meitei radical group Arambai Tenggol were apprehended in Imphal West district on February 1st for extorting money from commercial vehicle drivers on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway. Seized from the suspects – Thangjam George Singh (28), Abujam Narendra Singh (21), and Wahengbam Amarjit Singh (35) – were a printer, paper rolls, wireless sets, and other materials.
Separately, Leisangthem Rajesh Singh, a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba), was arrested in Kakching district. Singh is accused of extortion, recruitment, and kidnapping in Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts. Finally, Meitram Somorjit Singh, a member of the banned outfit NRFM, was apprehended in Imphal West, with a firearm, ammunition, and mobile phones confiscated. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb extortion and related criminal activities in the state.
