**Austin, TX –** Tesla has once again significantly reduced the monthly lease payments for its Cybertruck, marking the second price cut in less than three months. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) Cybertruck lease is now just $750 per month, a 25% decrease from its November launch price of $1000 and a further reduction from December’s $900. This dramatic drop represents a substantial loss for Tesla, as the $7,500 federal tax credit available through a lease loophole means the entire discount comes directly from Tesla’s profits.
While the base model AWD Cybertruck has seen steep lease price reductions, the performance tri-motor version has received a minor $1 increase, bringing the monthly payment to $1000. Despite this, the performance model still enjoys over a 20% reduction from its initial lease price.
Interestingly, Tesla has simultaneously increased the end-of-lease buyout prices. The buyout for the AWD Cybertruck is now $57,400, up from $54,950, while the performance model’s buyout increased from $67,500 to $71,730. These figures suggest Tesla anticipates strong residual value for the Cybertruck, estimating it will retain over 70% of its value after three years and 30,000 miles.
The price cuts follow the termination of the Foundation Series Cybertruck program and the introduction of the standard $80,000 Cybertruck. The leasing option, introduced in November, only applies to the non-Foundation Series vehicles. Analysts are speculating on the reasons behind this unusual pricing strategy, which involves simultaneously lowering lease payments and raising buyout prices.
