Sun Feb 02 22:50:00 IST 2025: ## Inter Milan Aim to Right Wrongs in Crucial Derby Clash Against AC Milan

**Milan, Italy** – Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has acknowledged his team’s subpar performance in their previous two encounters with AC Milan this season and vowed a more competitive showing in Sunday’s crucial Serie A derby. Inter suffered a 2-1 defeat in September and a 3-2 loss in the Italian Super Cup in January.

Inzaghi attributed the September loss to Milan’s strong performance, but criticized his team’s performance in the Super Cup, citing a foul on Kristjan Asllani that preceded Milan’s opening goal. He stressed the need for improved focus and execution in decisive moments.

A congested fixture list, including 16 games in the past two months, a rearranged match against Fiorentina on February 10th, and a Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio on February 25th, has hampered Inter’s preparation, Inzaghi explained. He believes this intense schedule will prevent the team from reaching their full potential.

Despite the challenges, a win against Milan could temporarily lift Inter to the top of the Serie A table. Currently second with 50 points, three behind leaders Napoli (with a game in hand), Inter are keen to capitalize on their opportunity. Milan sit seventh with 34 points. Napoli face AS Roma later on Sunday, while third-placed Atalanta play Torino on Saturday. Inzaghi acknowledged the tight competition, highlighting the possibility of other teams making a late run for the title.
