Sun Feb 02 10:17:04 IST 2025: ## Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Praises Union Budget 2025; Opposition Criticizes Lack of State-Specific Allocations

**Bhopal, February 2, 2025** – Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav lauded the Union Budget 2025, presented on February 1st, hailing its provisions for the poor, women, youth, farmers, startups, innovation, and artificial intelligence. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, describing the budget as “welfare-oriented, all-encompassing, and inclusive.”

While the budget didn’t include specific allocations for Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Yadav highlighted potential benefits for the state’s population, such as a new scheme offering term loans up to ₹2 crore to five lakh women, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs over the next five years. He also welcomed the income tax exemption for those earning up to ₹12 lakh.

However, the opposition Congress party sharply criticized the budget. MPCC president Jitu Patwari condemned the lack of concrete plans for farmers and unemployed youth, accusing the government of merely “juggling numbers” instead of addressing critical issues. He argued the budget primarily benefits capitalists and industrialists, offering no relief to the struggling middle and lower classes amidst high inflation.

Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath further criticized the central government for failing to provide any special provisions for Madhya Pradesh, a state he described as being “continuously reeling under debt.” He highlighted unfulfilled election promises, such as increased MSP for wheat and paddy, doubling farmers’ income, and raising the Ladli Behna scheme allowance to ₹3,000. The BJP’s 2023 election manifesto promised this increase, but it hasn’t materialized.
