**New Delhi, February 2, 2025** – Joginder Gyong, a gangster wanted in India and subject to an Interpol Red Notice, has been apprehended and deported from the Philippines. The joint operation, involving Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Haryana Police, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), concluded with Gyong’s arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday.
Gyong, an Indian-Nepalese national described by Philippine authorities as a key figure in a separatist terror network, was initially arrested in Bacolod City. His extradition followed an Interpol Red Notice issued by the CBI in October 2024. He is wanted in Haryana for the murder of a man he suspected of revealing the location of his brother, Surender Gyong, who was killed in a police shootout. Gyong allegedly plotted the murder as revenge.
Further, he faces multiple charges across India, including robbery, murder, attempted murder, extortion, and kidnapping. He was previously convicted to life imprisonment in Haryana for illegal firearms possession but escaped while on parole. The murder in Panipat, Haryana, occurred in December 2017, after which he fled the country.
Delhi Police officials confirmed the arrest, highlighting the international cooperation that led to Gyong’s capture. The successful operation underscores the increasing collaboration between Indian and international law enforcement agencies in combating transnational crime.
