**ERODE, Tamil Nadu, February 2, 2025** – A clash between members of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) erupted outside the CSI Brough Memorial Church in Erode on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred after NTK candidate M. K. Seethalakshmi and over 100 supporters began campaigning near the church, following a religious service. A smaller group of TPDK members, distributing pamphlets celebrating Periyar E.V. Ramasamy’s contributions to Erode, sparked a heated exchange and physical altercation when slogans were exchanged. NTK cadres tore the TPDK pamphlets.
Police intervened to prevent further escalation, dispersing the TPDK group. However, tension remained as NTK cadres continued to voice slogans against Periyar. The police successfully de-escalated the situation and brought it under control. The incident highlights ongoing political tensions in the region leading up to the elections.
