**Erode, February 2, 2025** – A 70-year-old woman was robbed of 17 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹50,000 in cash at her home in Kallukadaimedu, Erode, on Saturday night. Savithri, a widow who lives alone, was threatened at knifepoint by two unidentified men, aged approximately 30, who forced her to give them her bureau key. Following the robbery, she alerted neighbours, who contacted the Erode South police station. Police are investigating the incident, reviewing local CCTV footage, and have registered a case. Authorities believe the robbers targeted Savithri due to her age and solitary living situation.
