Sun Feb 02 07:15:24 UTC 2025: ## Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ Opens to Mixed Reviews and Moderate Box Office

**Mumbai, India** – Shahid Kapoor’s Bollywood debut in Rosshan Andrrews’ crime thriller “Deva” has opened to a mixed reception. While the film, a remake of the Malayalam hit “Mumbai Police,” generated significant pre-release buzz thanks to its star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubbra Sait, its box office performance has been underwhelming so far.

According to industry tracker Scinailk, the film earned ₹5.50 crore on its opening day (Friday), rising slightly to ₹6.42 crore on Saturday. However, Sunday’s collection plummeted to a mere ₹0.11 crore, resulting in a total India net collection of ₹12.03 crore over the first three days.

“Deva,” which sees Kapoor playing a memory-loss-stricken cop, has garnered praise for its on-screen chemistry between Kapoor and Hegde. However, reviews from audiences have been divided. While the film retains the core plot of the original, director Andrrews, making his Bollywood debut, has introduced key script changes, particularly in the climax.

The news of “Deva’s” mixed performance comes amidst the unrelated announcement of Reliance Retail relaunching Shein in India through a new app. This move marks Reliance’s ambitious foray into the fast-fashion market, targeting India’s young, Western-style clothing consumers.
