**Mumbai, India** – Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s highly anticipated action thriller, “Deva,” is struggling to make a mark at the box office. While initial reports suggested a strong opening, subsequent figures reveal a disappointing performance, falling far short of the actor’s previous successes.
The film’s second-day collection in India reached ₹6.42 crore (approximately $780,000 USD), a modest 16.73% increase from its opening day. This pales in comparison to Kapoor’s previous films like “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” which saw significantly higher opening weekend numbers. Even compared to other films that ultimately underperformed, “Deva” lags behind.
While the production house, Zee Studios, reported slightly higher opening day figures (₹6.82 crore domestically and ₹3.49 crore overseas), the overall performance remains underwhelming. Occupancy rates on Saturday hovered around 13.07%, with a noticeable improvement in evening and night screenings.
Critics have offered mixed reviews. SCREEN’s Shubhra Gupta noted Kapoor’s moments of strength in the film, but the overall box office performance indicates a lack of widespread audience appeal. The film’s future success remains uncertain, despite a slight improvement from its opening day.
