**NEW DELHI** – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will unveil India’s Union Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on Saturday, February 1st, at 11:00 AM. The speech, delivered in the Lok Sabha, will detail budgetary allocations and revenue projections for the upcoming year. The Budget documents will subsequently be tabled in the Rajya Sabha.
The announcement comes after the commencement of the Parliament’s Budget Session on Friday, which includes a Presidential address and will run in two parts: January 31st to February 13th, and March 10th to April 4th.
Live coverage of the Budget speech will be available on the official Union Budget website (indiabudget.gov.in) and Sansad TV. Hindustan Times will also provide real-time updates and expert analysis.
This year’s Budget follows the release of the Economic Survey on Friday, which projects India’s GDP growth between 6.3% and 6.8%. The survey’s unusually short timeframe – presented just six months after the previous survey – reflects the fast-paced economic climate.
Budget 2025 is anticipated to prioritize the agriculture sector and potentially include significant tax reforms. Speculation includes phasing out the old tax regime and introducing zero income tax for individuals earning less than ₹10 lakh annually, although these remain unconfirmed. The Budget will also likely address the delicate balance between fiscal consolidation and sustained economic growth amid rising inflation. Key expectations include granting “industry” status to the real estate sector and increased budgetary support for artificial intelligence development and adoption.
