**DHAKA, BANGLADESH –** The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the formation of an independent inquiry body to bolster its ongoing investigation into alleged corruption within the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The move follows reports of potential spot-fixing and match-fixing in several matches during the current season.
The BCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) is currently scrutinizing at least eight matches and ten players, including six members of the Bangladesh national team, two uncapped Bangladeshi players, and two foreign players. Four franchises are also under investigation, with Durbar Rajshahi and Dhaka Capitals facing the most scrutiny.
Specific matches under suspicion include games played on January 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th, and 22nd, involving various teams.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed has vowed strict action against anyone found guilty of wrongdoing. The board emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the BPL and a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, aligning with the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. The independent inquiry body will work alongside the ACU to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
