Sun Feb 02 16:30:07 IST 2025: ## Bangladesh Cricket Board Launches Probe into BPL Corruption Allegations

**DHAKA, BANGLADESH** – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the formation of an independent inquiry body to assist its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) in investigating allegations of corruption within the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). This move follows recent media reports detailing potential match-fixing incidents during the tournament. While the BCB’s ACU has yet to confirm these allegations, the board has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and its commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport. This marks the first such investigation into BPL corruption allegations since 2013.

The BCB stressed its adherence to the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and emphasized that its ACU continuously monitors all integrity-related matters within Bangladesh cricket.

Separately, the Bangladesh government has formed a three-member fact-finding committee to investigate the BPL’s failure to pay players for the 2024-25 season. The committee, headed by NSC director (sports) Humayun Kabir, has been given seven days to submit its report. The non-payment issue has caused significant disruption, with players from several teams, including Durbar Rajshahi, staging protests and refusing to participate in matches. The BCB is reportedly facing criticism for not securing bank guarantees from all participating teams before the tournament commenced.
