**Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India –** Five Nepali nationals perished and four others sustained critical injuries in a horrific car accident on Saturday in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. The group, returning from the Maha Kumbh festival in Prayagraj, were traveling in an SUV that overturned after hitting a divider on the Madhubani four-lane bypass.

Eyewitnesses reported the SUV was speeding and swerved to avoid colliding with motorcyclists performing stunts. The impact of the subsequent crash with the divider was devastating, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times, leaving it completely crushed and the windows shattered. One of the tires even broke off and entered the vehicle.

Five passengers – Archana Thakur, Indu Devi, Mantarni Devi, Bal Krishna Jha, and the driver – died at the scene. The four critically injured survivors, Manohar Thakur, Srishti Thakur, Kamni Jha, and Devtaran Devi, were rushed to Shri Krishna Memorial Medical College (SKMCH) for treatment.

Police confirmed that the airbags in the SUV did not deploy, exacerbating the injuries. The motorcyclists fled the scene following the accident. Authorities are contacting Nepali officials and the victims’ families. A senior official stated that local residents assisted in rescuing the injured. The incident has highlighted the dangers of speeding and reckless driving.
