**Istanbul, Turkey** – Osman Gurcu, a 43-year-old Turkish security guard, has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest axe throw, sending his axe a staggering 183 feet, 8.72 inches. This impressive feat surpasses the previous record by nearly 40 feet, exceeding the length of an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Gurcu’s achievement marks his eighth Guinness World Record title. He credits his success to a natural talent honed since childhood, despite facing challenges like inclement weather that hampered his training. He also noted that the record was broken by another individual during his own preparations, forcing him to push even further.

“It was an incredible feeling to break the record because the distance is very far, and you have to be able to get far, and at the same time, the axe has to get stuck in the target board,” Gurcu told Guinness World Records. “I hit it many times, but it didn’t get stuck, and I never gave up.”

Gurcu, a father of two, is an avid Guinness World Records enthusiast, constantly searching for new challenges to conquer. He hopes to one day see himself featured in the annual Guinness World Records book. His ambitions extend beyond axe throwing; he plans to attempt further records in January, including a bullseye shooting record and continuing his streak of basketball shooting records.
