Sat Feb 01 17:16:50 UTC 2025: ## India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry Budget Slightly Reduced
**New Delhi, February 1, 2025** – The Indian government’s Union Budget for the fiscal year has revealed a marginal decrease in funding for the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The allocation has dropped from ₹4,626.71 crore to ₹4,358.38 crore.
Despite the overall reduction, significant funds have been earmarked for various initiatives. ₹500 crore is allocated for broadcasting infrastructure development, while ₹363 crore and ₹238 crore are designated for film content dissemination and information dissemination respectively. Further, ₹17.40 crore will support the community radio movement.
Individual institutions also received funding, including ₹2,379.70 crore for Prasar Bharati, ₹89.11 crore for the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune), ₹52.45 crore for the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Kolkata), ₹108.65 crore for the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, ₹10.48 crore for the Press Council of India, and ₹17 crore for the National Film Development Corporation. Within the ministry itself, ₹142.70 crore is allocated for establishment expenditure, ₹38.27 crore for art and culture, and ₹401.53 crore for information and publicity.
