Sat Feb 01 13:49:58 UTC 2025: **Karnataka Congress MLA Resigns From Chief Minister’s Advisory Post**
**Bengaluru, February 1, 2025** – B.R. Patil, a senior Congress MLA representing Aland constituency, resigned from his post as a political advisor to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday. Mr. Patil, a veteran legislator who entered the Assembly in 1983 alongside Mr. Siddaramaiah, cited disagreements over government policies, insufficient funds allocated to his constituency, and dissatisfaction with his advisory role as reasons for his departure.
Sources suggest that Mr. Patil’s unhappiness stemmed from having to report to Minister Priyank Kharge, who is younger and less experienced. His recent protest, a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha demanding minimum support price for farmers, further highlighted his discontent with the government. This resignation marks another instance of internal friction within the ruling Congress party in Karnataka. Mr. Patil’s appointment to the advisory position was only made in December 2023.
