Sat Feb 01 17:51:52 IST 2025: ## GPS-Equipped Vehicles to Secure EVMs in Erode By-election
**Erode, Tamil Nadu, February 1, 2025** – The upcoming by-election in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency will see heightened security measures for the transportation of electronic voting machines (EVMs). Twenty-four vehicles, including lorries, vans, and four-wheelers, equipped with Global Positioning Systems (GPS), will escort EVMs, VVPATs, and other election materials to 237 polling stations across the constituency.
The GPS tracking will allow for real-time monitoring of the EVM transport from a control room at the Corporation Central Office. Lorries and vans carrying the election materials will be assembled on February 3rd, with transportation to polling stations beginning on the afternoon of February 4th. Polling is scheduled for February 5th. This enhanced security protocol aims to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the by-election.
