**Bijapur, Chhattisgarh:** A fierce gun battle between security forces and Maoist rebels erupted in the Gangalur forest area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the death of eight Maoists. The encounter, which began around 8:30 AM, involved joint operations by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Cobra unit, and the Special Task Force (STF).
Intelligence reports indicated the presence of West Bastar Division Maoists in the Gangalur police station area, prompting the anti-Naxal operation. The Maoists opened fire upon encountering security personnel, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Authorities stated that the operation is ongoing, with forces continuing to search the forest for additional rebels. Automatic weapons have been recovered from the encounter site.
