Sun Jan 26 03:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s Education Model Takes Center Stage at Republic Day Parade Amidst Political Undercurrents
**New Delhi, [Date]** – The 76th Republic Day parade showcased 26 tableaux, 16 representing states and union territories, and 10 from various ministries. However, it was Delhi’s tableau that garnered significant attention, becoming a focal point of political discourse just days before the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
Initially rejected by the central government, Delhi’s tableau, themed “Quality Education,” ultimately secured a place in the parade. It highlighted the achievements of the Delhi government’s education initiatives, showcasing classrooms, modern labs, libraries, and student creativity from government schools. The inclusion, achieved at the last minute after much lobbying by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had previously criticized the exclusion of Delhi’s tableau since 2020, is being seen as a major political victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The AAP has consistently championed its education model as a key election strategy, emphasizing improvements in government schools, Mohalla Clinics, and increased education budgets. The tableau’s prominent display served as a powerful message to the over 77,000 spectators, aiming to underscore the government’s commitment to educational reforms.
While states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Karnataka also participated, Delhi’s tableau’s inclusion is viewed as highly symbolic, adding another layer to the ongoing tension between the AAP and the central government. The central government stated the tableau was approved after expert panel review, while the AAP considers it a significant political win.
The parade, attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo as the chief guest, proceeded under tight security. The event provided a platform for the Delhi government to showcase its educational achievements to a vast audience, potentially swaying voters ahead of the crucial elections.
