**New Delhi, India** – India showcased its military might on its 76th Republic Day with a spectacular parade down Kartavya Path. The event featured several distinguished regiments, highlighting the nation’s strength and history.
The **Brigade of Guards**, led by Captain Ravindra Bhardwaj, commanded attention in their red uniforms. As the Indian Army’s first all-class regiment, they have served with distinction in conflicts both before and after independence, with soldiers like Jadunath Singh and Lance Naik Albert Ekka receiving the Maha Vir Chakra for their supreme sacrifice.
The **Jat Regiment**, celebrating over 200 years of service under Captain Ajay Singh Garsa, demonstrated their unwavering commitment. Originally formed as the Calcutta Militia in 1795, their bravery was evident in World Wars I and II, as well as battles in France, Mesopotamia, Burma, and North Africa.
The **Garhwal Rifles**, led by Lieutenant Rohit Lakshman Kudache, marched with precision. This 136-year-old regiment, representing seven districts of the Garhwal region, earned numerous accolades for its courage in both World Wars, including three Victoria Crosses. Their war cry is “Badri Vishal Lal Ki Jai.”
The **Maratha Light Infantry (Mahar Regiment)**, under Captain Aman Kumar Singh, was established in Belgaum on October 1, 1941, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. Since its inception, the regiment has participated in numerous operations and excelled in relief efforts and sports. It now comprises 21 regular infantry battalions, three territorial battalions, three national rifles, and a task force. Their war cry is “Bolo Hindustan Ki Jai.”
Finally, the **Jammu and Kashmir Rifles**, led by Major Vikramjeet Singh, showcased their proud history. Initially formed in 1820 as a state force under Maharaja Gulab Singh, they joined the Indian Army in 1957 and were renamed in 1963. Their war cry is “Durga Mata Ki Jai.”
