Sat Jan 25 09:26:48 IST 2025: ## Guwahati Old Age Home Residents Wed in Heartwarming Ceremony

**GUWAHATI, INDIA –** In a heartwarming display of love and community spirit, two senior citizens residing at an old-age home in Guwahati, Assam, recently tied the knot. Padmeswar Goala, 71, and Jayaprabha Bora, 65, exchanged vows on Friday, January 24th, 2025, almost a year after finding love within the walls of the Pramod Talukdar Memorial Old Age Home.

Their paths, previously marked by unfulfilled dreams of marriage – Ms. Bora due to family responsibilities and Mr. Goala following a past heartbreak – converged at the old-age home. Their romance blossomed after Mr. Goala’s musical performance at a home event captivated Ms. Bora.

The wedding, attended by approximately 4,000 guests, was made possible by community support. Donations poured in after news of their intended marriage spread, enabling a traditional ceremony complete with a celebratory feast. Ms. Bora, temporarily transferred to a sister home run by the same NGO, arrived in a traditional Assamese mekhela sador, while Mr. Goala donned a dhoti kurta.

The couple, who now share a room at the old-age home, expressed their deep affection for one another. Ms. Bora, originally from Tezpur, and Mr. Goala, from Bokakhat, have found companionship and love in their later years, proving that age is no barrier to finding happiness. The event highlights the supportive community surrounding the old-age home and underscores the enduring power of love.
