**GUWAHATI, January 24, 2025** – A wildfire is raging in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, posing a significant threat to several villages. The fire, which started Friday morning around 10 a.m. in the Twang Chu river belt below Sakgyur village, spread rapidly through a wooded area.
District officials reported that the blaze was partially contained through the collaborative efforts of local administration, police, the Army, Sashastra Seema Bal personnel, and villagers. However, the fire continues to spread in difficult-to-reach terrain. The Lungla area, where the fire is burning, sits at an average altitude of 6,600 feet. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and working to bring the fire under control.
