Fri Jan 24 19:06:03 UTC 2025: ## Former Bollywood Actress Mamta Kulkarni to Become Mahamandleshwar at Kumbh Mela

**Prayagraj, India** – Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, known for her roles in hit films like “Karan Arjun” and “Baazi,” is set to embrace a new life as a Mahamandleshwar (a high spiritual title) within the Kinnar Akhara (a monastic order for transgender individuals) at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela.

Kulkarni, who returned to India earlier this month after a nearly 25-year absence, participated in rituals at the Sangam confluence in Prayagraj, including a holy dip and “pind daan” (ancestral rites). This follows a period of communication with the Kinnar Akhara over the past year and a half.

Acharya Mahamandleshwar Laxmi Narayan of the Kinnar Akhara confirmed the appointment, stating that Kulkarni will be known as Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri and will be free to express her artistic talents within the spiritual context of the Akhara. Kulkarni herself attributed her new role to divine guidance.

Videos posted online show Kulkarni in saffron robes participating in Kumbh Mela festivities and outlining plans to visit Varanasi and Ayodhya for further religious observances. Her unexpected transition has captivated the public, marking a dramatic shift from her earlier life in the Bollywood spotlight.
