**GAZA CITY** – Despite widespread devastation caused by the recent conflict, Palestinian teachers are refusing to let the war extinguish the flame of learning in Gaza. With almost all schools damaged or destroyed, educators have taken extraordinary measures, establishing makeshift classrooms in tents to continue educating children.

Farida al-Ghoul, a mathematics and English teacher, writer, and founder of the “Educational Tents” initiative, exemplifies this unwavering commitment. She, along with colleagues like Ihab Sulaiman, an educational consultant and English lecturer at the Islamic University of Gaza, are working tirelessly to provide a semblance of normalcy for students amidst the rubble. Their efforts are even receiving international support, with volunteers like Libre Sankara, a Puerto Rican aid worker with the Canadian medical organization Glia, lending a hand.

The initiative highlights the resilience of the Palestinian people and their determination to prioritize education, even in the face of unimaginable hardship and widespread destruction. Thousands of students have been affected by the damage to schools, but the “Educational Tents” project offers a glimmer of hope, ensuring that children continue to receive their education amidst the ongoing crisis.
