Fri Jan 24 20:32:16 UTC 2025: **AAP Alleges Plot to Assassinate Kejriwal, Demands Reinstatement of Punjab Police Security**

NEW DELHI, January 25, 2025 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP and Delhi Police of a conspiracy to assassinate its national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, following the withdrawal of Punjab Police from his security detail. The party claims this leaves Mr. Kejriwal vulnerable after two alleged attacks by BJP workers in a week.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, have jointly written to the Chief Election Commissioner, demanding the reinstatement of Punjab Police security for Mr. Kejriwal, citing concerns about his safety and the integrity of the upcoming elections. They argue that leaving his security solely in the hands of the Delhi Police, which they say is controlled by the BJP, recklessly endangers his life and constitutes an attack on democracy.

BJP leader Anurag Thakur responded by questioning why Mr. Kejriwal, who holds no official position in Punjab, receives Z-plus security from the state.

Mr. Kejriwal himself addressed the situation, agreeing with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s assessment of Delhi’s deteriorating law and order situation. He urged Mr. Adityanath to advise Union Home Minister Amit Shah on improving the capital’s security. He also condemned the alleged distribution of money by political parties to influence voters.

At election rallies, Mr. Kejriwal continued his campaign, urging voters to support AAP to avoid power cuts and criticizing the BJP for allegedly abusing Purvanchalis and calling them Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. He appealed to voters to “press the right button” on polling day.
