NEW DELHI, January 24, 2025 – The Arushi Arts Gallery’s annual Harvest exhibition, this year themed “Blue Horizons,” showcases the diverse interpretations of the color blue across art history and contemporary works. Featuring artists like KG Subramanyan, Satish Gupta, and Diya Mehta, the exhibition explores the color’s symbolic resonance, encompassing melancholy, hope, peace, and vastness.

From its historical scarcity in ancient Greece and Rome to its prominence in Egyptian culture and later, its impact on masters like Monet and Picasso, the exhibition traces blue’s journey through art. Contemporary artists further delve into the color’s emotional depth, with Mehta’s melancholic depiction of railway passengers and Rajendran’s vibrant watercolors capturing daily life against a backdrop of a vast blue sky. Sculptor Sachindra Nath Jha contributes a colorful Nandi bull, embodying purity and optimism.

Curator Santhosh Sadrak highlights the timely relevance of blue’s calming influence in today’s stressful world, noting the artists’ skillful weaving of human relations and contemporary perspectives into their works. Arushi Arts owner Payal Kapoor emphasizes the color’s enduring significance in both ancient civilizations and modern art, seeing “Blue Horizons” as a poetic reflection on life’s hopes and aspirations. The exhibition runs until February 10th at the Arushi Arts Gallery in GK-II.
