Fri Jan 24 06:20:00 UTC 2025: **TCU to Retire Desmond Bane’s Jersey**

**FORT WORTH, TX** – TCU Athletics announced today that they will retire the jersey of former Horned Frogs star Desmond Bane at halftime of their February 18th game against Texas Tech. The ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. in Schollmaier Arena.

Bane, a two-time All-Big 12 selection, left an indelible mark on the TCU basketball program during his four-year career (2016-2020). He holds the school record for three-pointers made (249), wins (84), and games played (141). He also ranks among the program’s all-time top scorers, finishing third with 1,784 points.

A standout performer from the moment he arrived as an unheralded recruit, Bane helped lead TCU to the 2017 NIT championship, their first postseason title. He also played a key role in their 2018 NCAA Tournament appearance, their first in two decades. His consistent excellence earned him All-Big 12 honors in both his junior and senior seasons, culminating in First-Team recognition as a senior.

Bane was selected 30th overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2020 NBA Draft and is currently a key player for the Memphis Grizzlies, where he is in his fifth season. Last season, he achieved a career-high 23.7 points per game.

The jersey retirement ceremony is a fitting tribute to Bane’s exceptional career and unwavering dedication to TCU basketball.
