**Vijayapura, Karnataka, January 24, 2025** – The Karnataka government has pledged its full support for Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL)’s plans to establish a new soap and detergent factory in Vijayapura district. The factory, slated for Ittangihal village, is expected to create over 5,000 direct jobs and an estimated 20,000 indirect employment opportunities, boosting the economy of North Karnataka. The state will allocate at least 10 acres of land for the project.

Large Industries Minister M.B. Patil stated that the factory is expected to be operational within a year. This expansion follows KSDL’s record-breaking sales of over ₹1,500 crore, the highest in the company’s 40-year history. The Minister attributed this success to implemented reforms improving accountability, transparency, and efficiency, including the appointment of all-India service officers to key positions.

KSDL currently produces over 50 products, recently adding 21 new items targeting younger consumers, such as shower gels and transparent soaps. The company plans further expansion with new plants in Mysuru and Shivamogga.

C.S. (Appaji) Nadagouda, KSDL chairman, highlighted the company’s strategy to expand into North Indian states and international markets, aiming to increase brand visibility through various channels including stores, malls, and airport outlets, as well as soap fairs at festivals. He emphasized KSDL’s commitment to using pure sandalwood oil in its products.
