Thu Jan 23 19:23:54 UTC 2025: ## South Central Railway Electrifies Akkanapet-Medak Line, VHP Requests Increased Train Services for Kumbh Mela
**Hyderabad, January 24, 2025** – The South Central Railway (SCR) has completed the electrification of the 18.56-km Akkanapet-Medak railway line, a ₹15.49 crore project. This leaves only the recently constructed Manoharabad-Siddipet line to be electrified within the Hyderabad division. The new line connects Medak to the Secunderabad-Nizamabad-Aurangabad route, extending towards the Mumbai main line. The completion was marked by the earlier inauguration of a new tower car for overhead equipment maintenance.
Separately, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has appealed to the SCR to increase daily train services and add extra coaches to existing trains to accommodate the large influx of pilgrims from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. A VHP delegation met with SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain on Thursday to present their request.
