**Mumbai, India –** Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has given a statement to Bandra police regarding the January 16th home invasion at his Mumbai residence, during which he sustained multiple stab wounds. Khan recounted how he and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, were awakened by the screams of their son Jehangir’s nanny, Eliyama Philips. Upon rushing to their son’s room, they confronted the alleged attacker.
Khan stated that he attempted to restrain the intruder, resulting in a struggle during which he was stabbed several times in the back, neck, and hands. Despite his injuries, Khan managed to push the attacker into the room while Philips fled with Jehangir and secured the door. The attacker reportedly demanded ₹1 crore (approximately $121,000 USD).
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Shariful Islam, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, was apprehended last week following a three-day manhunt. Police located him after tracing a Google Pay transaction he made for breakfast. Islam reportedly confessed to the crime, but his father maintains his son’s innocence, claiming he was framed.
Khan, who underwent surgery for his injuries, was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21st. The Mumbai Police have collected evidence, including fingerprints found at the scene, and are continuing their investigation.
