**Mumbai, January 24, 2025** – Maharashtra has secured a massive ₹15.70 lakh crore in investments through 54 Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Thursday. The majority of these investments, he stated, will focus on sustainability and energy initiatives, aligning with global concerns about climate change.
The investments, expected to create 15.95 lakh jobs, include a significant ₹3.05 lakh crore commitment from the Reliance Group across various sectors including renewable energy, green hydrogen, and data centers. This single agreement alone is projected to generate three lakh jobs.
Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra’s proactive approach to utilizing Artificial Intelligence in administration and its ambition to become a leader in data centers. He emphasized the state’s participation in various dialogues at Davos, showcasing India as an attractive investment destination.
However, the Opposition, specifically Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, criticized the government, alleging that most of the MoUs were signed with Indian companies already based in Maharashtra, questioning the significance of the Davos trip. Thackeray’s social media post highlighted that out of 29 companies involved, only one is foreign, with the majority based in Maharashtra, many in Mumbai. Fadnavis dismissed these concerns.
