**Bengaluru, January 24, 2025** – A 33-year-old man, Nagesh Veeranna, died under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday morning, prompting a police investigation. Veeranna had recently participated in a clinical trial conducted by Syngene International, an Electronics City-based R&D firm. His brother, Revansiddappa, alleges that his death was a result of adverse side effects from the trial medications.
According to Revansiddappa, Veeranna, who had no prior health issues, experienced severe stomach aches after receiving tablets and injections as part of the trial in December 2024. He was hospitalized in the ICU, but subsequently recovered and returned home. However, Veeranna was found dead at his brother’s residence in Jalahalli on Wednesday morning.
Revansiddappa stated that Veeranna had been regularly visiting Syngene International for health checkups. He claims that after failing to wake his brother, he contacted a doctor from the firm, who instructed him to take Veeranna to the same hospital where he had received previous treatment. Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead on arrival.
Jalahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Veeranna’s death. The investigation will focus on whether there is a connection between his participation in the clinical trial and his subsequent death.
