**THRISSUR, Kerala (Jan 23, 2025)** – A spectacular handloom saree festival showcasing India’s rich textile heritage has opened in Thrissur, Kerala. Organized by the Ministry of Textiles’ Development Commissioner (Handlooms), the festival runs until January 28th at the Amber Hall, Lulu International Convention Centre, Ayyanthole.

The event features 75 handloom weavers, self-help groups, and societies from across India, displaying over 50 varieties of traditional sarees. Renowned weaves such as Banarasi, Patola, Chanderi, and Kuthampully, representing states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, are on display.

Visitors can witness live weaving demonstrations and purchase sarees directly from the artisans. The festival aims to promote Indian handloom traditions, connect weavers with buyers and exporters, and provide economic opportunities for the artisans. A specially curated theme pavilion and exclusive booths are also part of the event. The festival is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
