Fri Jan 24 13:42:19 UTC 2025: ## Malayalam Film Producer Files Criminal Complaint Against Industry Leaders
**Kochi, January 24, 2025** – Producer and actor Sandra Thomas has filed a criminal complaint against prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry, leading to the registration of a case against Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) general secretary B. Unnikrishnan and Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) president Anto Joseph. The Ernakulam Central police registered the case, which has since been transferred to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) already probing other industry-related cases stemming from the Hema Committee report.
The FIR alleges that Unnikrishnan and Joseph, acting out of alleged vindictiveness after Thomas testified before the Hema Committee, threatened to block her from producing any further Malayalam films. This included attempts to isolate her within the industry and encourage others not to cooperate, beginning August 28, 2024.
Thomas claims that numerous industry members witnessed the alleged mistreatment, citing a forced suspension of work on one of her films (evidence of which, she says, was provided to the KFPA president). She alleges that only after threatening legal action with the Competition Commission of India was work allowed to resume. She further accuses Unnikrishnan of both public and private threats.
Unnikrishnan denies these allegations, stating he has never directly confronted Thomas or made any public or private statements against her. He maintains that FEFKA has consistently supported Thomas in previous complaints and suggests a misunderstanding is at the root of the issue. He also claims he only recently learned of her testimony before the Hema Committee.
