**Patna, Bihar:** The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is expected to release the results of the 70th preliminary examination today, January 23rd. The commission had previously indicated that the results would be declared by the end of January. The announcement comes after a period of significant controversy surrounding the exam.

Following allegations of irregularities, including late distribution of question papers and tampered seals at a Patna exam center, candidates staged protests in Patna’s Gardanibagh for several days. Prominent political strategist Prashant Kishor also joined the protests, even undertaking a hunger strike before being arrested by police.

A petition is pending in the High Court demanding the cancellation of the exam, with a hearing scheduled for January 31st. A re-exam for 12,000 candidates was conducted on January 4th in response to the irregularities reported on the original exam date, December 13th.
