PATNA, INDIA – The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the results for its 70th preliminary examination (PT). Out of nearly 329,890 candidates who appeared, only 21,581 have qualified to move on to the mains examination. Remarkably, only one candidate achieved a score of 120 out of 150.

The BPSC announced the category-wise breakdown of successful candidates: 9,017 General Category, 3,295 SC, 211 ST, 2,793 OBC, 3,515 EBC, 601 Backward Class Women, 561 PwD, 2,149 EWS, and 280 under the Freedom Fighter quota. A significant 1,400 candidates received negative marking, highlighting the importance of understanding the exam’s marking system.

The commission clarified that the cutoff for this year’s exam was lower than in previous years, dispelling rumors of an unusually easy paper. The exam controller stated that despite the perceived ease, a majority of candidates failed to perform well.

The BPSC will soon release a notice regarding the mains examination, scheduled to take place after April 15th, 2025. Candidates who qualified are urged to begin their preparations.
