Fri Jan 24 17:52:26 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Blasters Suffer 2-1 Defeat Against East Bengal in ISL Clash

**Kolkata, India** – Kerala Blasters FC’s hopes of making the ISL playoffs suffered a setback after a 2-1 defeat against East Bengal FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The loss follows a goalless draw against NorthEast United in Kochi.

Two goals from Malayali players Vishnu and Hijazi proved decisive for East Bengal, who dominated the match from the outset. Vishnu opened the scoring in the 20th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse. East Bengal’s strong defense effectively thwarted Kerala’s attacks throughout the game. Hijazi extended the lead in the 72nd minute with a header.

Danish Farooq scored a late consolation goal for Kerala Blasters in the 84th minute, but it was too little too late, as the visitors were unable to secure an equalizer.

The defeat leaves Kerala Blasters in 8th position with 21 points from 18 matches, dimming their playoff chances. Only the top six teams qualify for the playoffs. East Bengal, meanwhile, avenged their earlier loss to Kerala in Kochi.
