Thu Jan 23 03:34:10 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Sees Unseasonably Warm Weather, but Dip Expected Soon

**NEW DELHI –** Delhi experienced an unusually warm Wednesday, with a minimum temperature of 9.3 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees above the seasonal average. However, this warmth is temporary, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Dr. Soma Sen Roy of the IMD attributed the higher-than-normal temperatures to a strong western disturbance and southerly winds. While temperatures across North India are expected to rise slightly (1-2 degrees Celsius), Delhi is unlikely to see any further increase. A gradual temperature drop is anticipated starting January 24th as the western disturbance moves away.

Rain is predicted for Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and North Rajasthan today and on January 23rd. Dense fog will continue to blanket Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha.

Despite the warm weather, Delhi’s air quality remained poor this morning, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 262. The maximum temperature is forecast to reach around 24 degrees Celsius. It is worth noting that January 19th saw a maximum temperature of 26.1 degrees Celsius, the warmest January day in six years.
