Thu Jan 23 07:20:00 IST 2025: ## USMNT Cruises to 3-1 Victory Over Venezuela in Friendly
**Orlando, FL –** A heavily rotated United States Men’s National Team, comprised largely of Major League Soccer players, secured a convincing 3-1 win against Venezuela in their first of two international friendlies this month. The match, played outside the FIFA international window, showcased several promising debuts.
Goals from Jack McGlynn (37′), Patrick Agyemang (39′), and Matko Miljevic (64′) secured the victory for the Americans. McGlynn’s stunning long-range strike and Agyemang’s deflected shot put the USMNT in control before halftime. Miljevic added a third, capitalizing on a counter-attack. Agyemang and Miljevic’s goals bring the total number of players scoring on their U.S. debut to 61.
Despite Miljevic missing an early penalty, the USMNT dominated possession and created numerous chances. The match also marked the debuts of six starters: Max Arfsten, George Campbell, Brian Gutierrez, Carden Clark, Miljevic, and Agyemang. Emeka Eneli and Indiana Vassilev also made their international debuts in the second half.
The win extends manager Mauricio Pochettino’s strong start, bringing his record to four wins and one loss since taking the reins in September. The team now looks ahead to their next friendly against Costa Rica on Wednesday. The game follows a tradition of January friendlies that have launched the careers of notable USMNT players like Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey. The victory was celebrated by a crowd of 18,008 in Orlando.
