Thu Jan 23 02:05:39 UTC 2025: ## Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves Major Infrastructure Projects During Prayagraj Kumbh Mela

**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, January 23, 2025** – The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet held a meeting on Wednesday in the Maha Kumbh Mela area of Prayagraj, announcing significant new infrastructure projects and policy changes. Key decisions included a revamp of the state’s aerospace and defence policies to attract investment, and the approval of two major expressways.

The 320-kilometer Vindhya Expressway will connect Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra, improving connectivity between the Ganga and Vindhya expressways and neighboring states. A 100-kilometer Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway was also greenlit. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated these projects will significantly boost the region’s social and economic development.

Following the meeting, Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues participated in a ritualistic holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. Adityanath later posted on X, highlighting the spiritual significance of the event.

The Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav criticized the choice of venue, stating that the Kumbh Mela is not an appropriate setting for political activities and that the meeting was a thinly veiled political message. The Uttar Pradesh government, however, maintained its commitment to creating a safe and prosperous state.
