Thu Jan 23 07:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh to Roll Out New Ration Cards and Indira Houses; Beneficiary List Pending
**Vijayawada, [Date]:** The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for a massive rollout of new ration cards and Indira Houses, a scheme providing affordable housing. However, the list of eligible beneficiaries is yet to be announced, according to Deputy Chief Minister Batti Vikramarka and several ministers.
The ministers clarified that the application process is still ongoing and a thorough verification of applicants’ residential status and other details is underway before the eligible list is published. They assured that every eligible applicant will receive a ration card and an Indira House.
A video conference was held with district collectors to review the progress of Gram Sabhas (village assemblies) across the state. Government Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari reported that 4,098 Gram Sabhas were successfully conducted on the first day. The ministers emphasized that those who applied previously can reapply during the ongoing Gram Sabhas.
This initiative, costing approximately ₹40,000 crore, is part of a larger program including Rythu Bharosa (farmer support) and Indira Amma Atmiya Bharosa schemes, all set to launch around Republic Day. The ministers stressed that the process of issuing ration cards and Indira Houses will be continuous. Those who haven’t applied before are also encouraged to apply during the Gram Sabhas. The high number of applications is attributed to the fact that this is the first such program in almost a decade.
The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Batti Vikramarka, along with ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummalla Nageswara Rao, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jupalli Krishna Rao, and Seethakka.
