**Jalgaon, Maharashtra –** A formal investigation has been launched into the tragic train accident in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district that resulted in the deaths of 12 passengers. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Central Circle, Manoj Arora, will lead the probe into the incident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon near Pachora.

Twelve passengers from the Pushpak Express were struck and killed by the oncoming Karnataka Express. The initial reports suggest the Pushpak Express passengers had disembarked onto the tracks due to a false alarm about a fire on board. Fifteen other passengers sustained injuries in the incident.

Mr. Arora is expected to arrive at the accident site between Pardhade and Maheji railway stations Thursday morning. The investigation will include recording statements from surviving passengers, eyewitnesses, and the crew members of both trains involved. The CRS, whose mandate includes investigating railway safety and operations under the Railways Act of 1989, will determine the circumstances that led to this devastating accident.
