Thu Jan 23 01:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Pushpa 2’s Box Office Reign Slows Despite Extended Cut and Record-Breaking Run
**HYDERABAD, INDIA** – The blockbuster Telugu film *Pushpa: The Rule* (Pushpa 2), starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, is experiencing a significant drop in box office earnings after a last-ditch attempt to boost its theatrical run. The release of an extended version, *Pushpa 2 Reloaded*, resulted in a temporary surge in weekend collections, but the film saw a sharp 56% decline on Monday, earning a mere ₹65 lakhs (approximately $78,000 USD). Tuesday’s earnings further dipped to ₹50 lakhs.
Despite the slowdown, the film has amassed a remarkable ₹1,229.40 crore (approximately $148 million USD) domestically and ₹1,735.40 crore (approximately $210 million USD) globally as of Monday, its 47th day in theaters. However, discrepancies exist in reported figures, with the production company Mythri Movie Makers previously claiming a worldwide gross of ₹1,831 crore.
*Pushpa 2*, with its extended 220-minute runtime, briefly held the position of the second-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, surpassing *Baahubali 2*, *RRR*, *KGF: Chapter 2*, and *Jawan*. It trails only Aamir Khan’s *Dangal*. Competition from newer releases like *Daaku Maharaaj*, *Game Changer*, and *Emergency* has also impacted its performance.
The film’s success has been overshadowed by off-screen challenges. Following a tragic stampede at a premiere, resulting in a fatality, Allu Arjun faced brief arrest. Furthermore, the Income Tax Department recently conducted raids on properties linked to the film’s production companies, Mythri Movie Makers and Sri Venkateswara Creations, sparking speculation about an investigation possibly related to the public disclosure of budget and box office figures.
While *Pushpa 2’s* theatrical run concludes, its OTT release is imminent. Streaming rights have been reportedly sold for a substantial sum, with a release expected 56 days after its theatrical debut, though no official date has been announced.
