Thu Jan 23 04:20:26 UTC 2025: ## Cuttack to Host Grand Parakram Diwas 2025 Celebrations Honoring Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

**CUTTACK, ODISHA –** The birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Cuttack, Odisha, will be the focal point of Parakram Diwas 2025, a national celebration honoring the iconic leader. This year’s festivities, taking place at the historic Barabati Fort, will commemorate Bose’s life and legacy, emphasizing his formative years in the city.

Bose, born in Cuttack in 1897, was deeply influenced by the city’s intellectual atmosphere and the teachings of his headmaster, Beni Madhab Das, and philosophical figures like Ramkrishna Paramhansa and Swami Vivekananda. His connection to Odisha’s history of student activism is also highlighted, notably his association with Harekrushna Mahtab, a future Chief Minister of Odisha.

Previous Parakram Diwas celebrations in Kolkata and Delhi focused on different aspects of Bose’s life, from his time as mayor of Kolkata to the struggles of the Indian National Army (INA). The 2025 event in Cuttack aims to showcase the origins of his revolutionary spirit, contrasting the symbolic culmination of India’s freedom struggle at Delhi’s Red Fort with the genesis of Bose’s journey in Cuttack.

The three-day celebration will feature cultural performances, immersive exhibits, and sand art displays chronicling Bose’s life. Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the importance of emulating Bose’s ideals of resilience, integrity, and unwavering patriotism, particularly for Odisha’s youth. The event will serve as a reminder of Bose’s vision of a united India, free from divisions, and a call to action for the nation to uphold his legacy. The closing ceremony will echo with “Jai Hind,” a fitting tribute to a leader whose life continues to inspire.
