**Salem, Tamil Nadu – January 24, 2025** – A 22-year-old woman was abducted by her relatives in Salem district on Thursday, sparking a police investigation and widespread outrage on social media. Roshini, a resident of Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district, was kidnapped by a five-member gang wielding knives and sickles.
The incident stems from Roshini’s inter-caste marriage six months ago to Dhanush Kandan (25), a resident of Chettimankurichi near Edappadi. Her parents had opposed the relationship, leading the couple to elope and subsequently marry.
The kidnapping occurred around 2 p.m. on Thursday when the gang forcefully took Roshini away in a car, threatening family members who attempted to intervene. The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which has since gone viral on social media.
Local residents alerted the Edappadi police, who have registered a case and launched a search for the perpetrators and the abducted woman. The police are currently reviewing the CCTV footage and pursuing all available leads.
