**Cooch Behar, West Bengal –** Popular Indian singer Monali Thakur was hospitalized in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, on January 21 after experiencing severe breathing difficulties during a live performance at the Dinhata Festival. A video circulating on social media shows Thakur stopping her performance midway, apologizing to the audience, and stating she was too ill to continue.
Thakur was initially taken to the Dinhata Sub-District Hospital before being transferred to a private hospital in Cooch Behar for further treatment. The nature of her illness has not been publicly disclosed.
This incident follows a previous controversy earlier this month where Thakur walked off stage during a performance in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, after 45 minutes. She subsequently addressed accusations of misconduct from the event organizers, stating that the management had mistreated and exploited vendors. Thakur shared an apology letter from the Varanasi organizers on her Instagram page, supporting her claims of poor treatment.
Thakur is a well-known playback singer with numerous hit Bollywood songs to her credit, including “Sawar Loon,” “Zara Zara Touch Me,” and “Chham Chham.” She also starred in the film *Lakshmi*.
