**UDHAGAMANDALAM, January 23, 2025** – The Nilgiris district police force has received a significant boost to its technological capabilities with the donation of a state-of-the-art drone from Coromandel International. The ₹14 lakh drone, accepted by Superintendent of Police N.S. Nisha on Thursday, will be utilized for a variety of law enforcement purposes.
The new equipment will enhance surveillance efforts, assisting in traffic management, searches for missing persons in the region’s dense forests, and anti-Naxal operations. Furthermore, four Nilgiris police personnel – three head constables (M. Prakash, V. Sundarraj, and K. Muthuswamy) and one Grade I constable (S. Dhinesh) – have become the first licensed drone pilots within the Tamil Nadu police force.
Police officials emphasized their commitment to integrating modern technology to improve surveillance and enhance crime detection and prevention across the district.
