Wed Jan 22 18:45:39 UTC 2025: **Kozhikode Corporation Holds Development Seminar, Seeks Public Input on 2025-26 Plan**

KOZHIKODE, Kerala – Former Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac inaugurated a development seminar hosted by the Kozhikode Corporation on January 22nd. The seminar focused on refining the corporation’s draft project plan for 2025-26, incorporating feedback from the public and local representatives.

Mr. Isaac emphasized the importance of grassroots-level input in development planning, advocating for improved facilities for the elderly and a thorough review before declaring the city free of extreme poverty. He also highlighted the need for skills-based education to ensure Kerala’s children thrive.

The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including the revival of the manufacturing sector, literary events, vocational programs, and support for bedridden patients. Suggestions from ward sabhas and working groups were also discussed. Notable proposals included the establishment of K-smart kiosks, modernization of the Kovoor fish market, a stray dog shelter, and an entrepreneurship and employment development council. Other suggestions encompassed housing assistance for the extremely poor, a finishing school for girls and women, additional de-addiction centers, and the creation of biodiversity parks.

The final annual project plan will be unveiled after incorporating all suggestions received during the seminar. Mayor Beena Philip presided over the event, which was attended by Deputy Mayor C.P. Musafar Ahamed and other corporation officials. The draft project plan was presented by Corporation Secretary K.U. Bini.
