**Jalgaon, Maharashtra –** A tragic train accident near Pachora, Maharashtra, has claimed the lives of 13 people after a false fire alarm caused widespread panic among passengers. The incident occurred around 5 pm on the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express, a daily superfast train, between Maheji and Pardhade stations, approximately 400 km from Mumbai.
According to Central Railway officials, sparks from either a hot axle or brake failure in one of the coaches triggered a rumour of a fire. Passengers panicked, pulling the emergency chain and some jumping onto the tracks. Tragically, they were struck by an oncoming Karnataka Express travelling from Bengaluru to Delhi on an adjacent track.

An accident relief train was dispatched from Bhusaval, and medical aid is being provided to the injured.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, currently at the World Economic Forum in Davos, announced financial aid of ₹5 lakh (approximately $6,000 USD) to each victim’s family and vowed to cover all medical costs for the injured.
